The Swedish Defence University is an internationally renowned university in the area of defence, crisis management and security. På strategiavdelningen bedrivs forskning och utbildning i krigsvetenskap. Strategiavdelningen präglas av mötet mellan civil och militär personal där expertis skapas av vetenskap och beprövad erfarenhet. Flera av avdelningens lärare anlitas ofta som experter inom dagsaktuella frågor om strategi och den militära professionen.

The Swedish Defence University are searching for a Research Assistant to the Department of Security, Strategy & Leadership, Division of Strategy.
The successful candidate is expected to undertake interviews in Filipino and Cebuano; conduct a literature review on women’s labour in civil war; and draft two articles on gender relations in armed conflict in the Philippines. The candidate will be employed within the framework of the research project Militarized Social Reproduction: Women’s Labour and Civil War.
Qualifications
Eligible applicants should hold a relevant bachelor degree as well as a master degree in Development Studies, Political Science or similar to the field of subject.
Experience
Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability of the applicant, specifically characteristics such as flexibility, problem-solving ability and an ability to work in a fast-paced environment to meet deadlines. Taking initiative, a proactive approach to communication with colleagues, and a being independent, structured and organized are important characteristics for this employment.
Other merits
Good analytical skills are necessary. Ability to converse in English, Filipino and Cebuano. Experience and knowledge of gender analysis in warfare and insurgencies, especially in relation to Mindanao, and the Communist Party.

The employment is a time-based contract with start according to agreement.
